Each year, as the school year comes to a close, the kids begin their relentless question of when are we going to NY? This year we planned our visit early in the summer – luckily I had a good answer for them! And so began the process of stuffing clothes, bathing suits, goggles, books, toys and all the various electronic devices that we can’t seem to live without into oddly sized bags. Our summertime vacation photography trek to my hometown of Pawling, New York went surprisingly well his time. No delays, no overbooked flights, no meltdowns and no car troubles!
Florida is Paradise
I know that I live in a beautiful place here in Florida. Palm tree lined pools…white sandy beaches…. the turquoise blue ocean. However, I always seem to marvel at the beauty of New York no matter the season. This trip we were greeted with such lush green foliage that it took my breath away. There is something so inherently different about the color green we have in Florida versus the green that grows in New York. We timed our trip perfectly with the blooming of the enormous Japanese Dogwood at my Mother’s house. It has been quite a longtime since I have seen that and now, as a photographer, my excitement was even greater.
The kids ate fresh mint from the garden, enjoyed ice cream cones from the country shop, visited with cousins and long lost friends, splashed in streams, braved waterfalls and jumped off a plethora of diving boards!
I just thought that I would share some of this Summertime Vacation Photography | Pawling, New York!
Enjoy!

Beautiful pictures, looks like your family had a blast! I can’t wait until my kiddos get bigger so we can go on a family vacation, with 4 kids under the age of 9 I’m not brave enough yet. 🙂
Thank you Courtney! Yikes… yes, 4 under 9 does sound scary. You will be there soon. Plus I was visiting my parents which always helps!
Because I’m the mother, one will probably say I’m prejudiced. Well, maybe, just a little! But Liz has a God-given gift of seeing the magic in everything she aims her camera at. She even makes her aging parents look good!
Nice shots Liz! I don’t see one of the Dog Wood tree. I agree about NY, even tho I am in NJ, there is still a difference.
Patsy, I don’t know where to find you!!
Looks Like so much fun! Beautiful photos. I love how you captured everything!
Thanks so much Sandra! It was a terrific trip.
So beautiful and not just about the photos – I really enjoyed your writing. It allowed me to enjoy the photos even more.
